Born in New York City, I was a successful cardiologist for over 25 years, practicing in Westchester, NY, and specializing in heart imaging and female cardiac issues. Even while working in medicine, my husband Roger Salisbury
and I started Cape Ann Artists
to anchor our artistic life.
Since my semi-retirement and move to Gloucester, I have been focusing on my creative side through photography. I completed a master’s degree in digital photography (MPS)
in 2009 at the School of Visual Arts in New York City and continue to explore my photographic vision as well as teach creative photography and lighting on the north shore of Boston.
I exhibit in juried shows in MA as well as nationally and am a member of many professional societies including the Copley Society of Art in Boston, for which I had served on the board and as the former Artistic Director of the Rocky Neck Art Colony 2010-2012. I has won numerous awards, have gallery representation in Gloucester, MA, New York and Scottsdale, Arizona and my work is in many private and corporate collections. My main focus is on floral fine art portraits and mature female nudes.Vision Statement
By creating fine art photography, I can share my appreciation for the beauty in nature, the purity of light and its reflections, as well as refine the viewers' eyes to see more simply. I seek to reduce an image to its elements or tones while enhancing or modifying the effect of light. I subtract elements from visual chaos -- contrary to a painter who starts with a blank canvas and adds elements. I may vary depth of field to isolate or expand the concept and play with light and shadow, working with or against it, shaping it to create. The search will never end. Art is the great equalizer and has a profound influence on people from all cultural and art education backgrounds, age, and gender.
